Instagram Is Now Putting Ads In Your Profile Feed

Instagram Is Now Putting Ads In Your Profile Feed

Instagram shows ads more often in Explore, account profile feeds, and other places.

In a series of updates to Instagram advertising, ads are being surfaced in more places, such as public profiles or the Explore tab.

Other updates include multi-advertiser ads and augmented reality ads.

Instagram offers Reels advertisers free music.

Instagram Ads in Profiles & Explore Feed

Instagram is currently testing ads in user profiles. However, only a few creators will be able to see any revenue.

Advertisements will start to appear in the profile feeds of public Instagram accounts for users over 18.

The vertical scrolling experience activated when someone taps a thumbnail in a user’s profile is called the profile feed. It does not refer to the grid profile, which will be free of advertising.

Instagram is testing the possibility of sharing revenue from profile ads with creators. However, it doesn’t seem like this option will ever be widely available.

Instagram announces:

Instagram Is Now Putting Ads In Your Profile Feed

“We will test monetization opportunities that allow creators to make extra income through ads shown in their profile feeds. We will start with U.S. creators.”

Currently, there is no additional information on eligibility criteria or revenue sharing.

Instagram has added ads to another surface, the Explore home feed. This is the primary grid you see when selecting the search tab.

Check out the following exemplar to see how new Explore ads will look:

Multi-Advertiser Ads

Instagram’s multi-advertiser format allows ads to be placed next to other advertisers.

In some cases, this includes ads from complementary or related businesses. An advertisement for a bridal dress might appear alongside an ad for a cake.

Machine learning and AI automatically determine the ad grouping.

Instagram allows advertisers to opt-out of multi-advertiser ads if they don’t want their ads to appear in a carousel alongside other businesses.

AR Ads

Instagram has launched an open beta for AR ads in its Stories and primary feeds.

Spark AR’s AR experience can be used to encourage users to interact with the effect by allowing them to see it in their environment.

Below is an example:

Free-Use Reels Music Ads

Instagram allows advertisers to use a variety of royalty-free music for Reels ads.

Reels allow you to add high-quality, free music from the Meta Sound Collection library to your carousel ads.

Advertisers can choose songs from their library or let Instagram automatically select the best music based on the content of an ad.
